Dear Shooter:

Dear Shooter,

I am writing you this letter because I believe that school violence should stop. I want to persuade you to not attack a school and kill innocent children. A few months ago a massive school shooting, like the one you are planning to do, happened in Connecticut and it was considered the second-worst campus shooting in U.S. history. It was a horrible tragedy and you have the power to prevent this from happening again.

As you might have heard, there is a lot of school violence going on in the U.S. right now and it causes too many unnecessary deaths. One common cause is the easy access to guns. A lot of people, including students, like using weapons and don’t care about the people they will hurt. In this case, you are planning to kill innocent students. Don’t you think that killing all these children is unfair and wrong? They all want to enjoy their lives and not die so young. Also, the survivors will likely have traumatic stress disorder and it will be hard to get over it.

The second reason is that you will harm the friends and families of the people you kill. Losing a member of a family is something everyone wants to avoid and it will cause a lot of sadness and depression. The victims will be really young and I am sure you can imagine the painful lives of their parents after this massacre. Do you really want so many people to suffer?

Another reason why you should not attack a school? You will harm yourself. After shooting all these children you will probably understand the mistake and feel guilty for it. The police will search for you, find you and you’ll go to prison, where you will spend the rest of your life. Also it wouldn’t be surprising if you committed suicide, because (based on what happened to Adam Lanza, who was the shooter in the tragedy in Connecticut) there is a good chance that you will react in an impulsive, self-destructive way after doing something so horrible.

As you can see, the school shooting that you are planning to do will have many negative effects. You have the power to prevent this from happening, at the same time saving the lives of a lot of innocent people, including yourself.
